I guess I never realized there were so many kinds of meditation.  This is a pretty good description of what I do and tells about other types to try.

ron, I've never done any meditation. I did tryonce or twice years ago, at that time I just could not get my mind to slow down enough to get anywhere. At that time I always had 4 or 5 or more things going on in my mind at any one time, I was so hyper, relaxation was impossible.

But there was a point in my life I found out (and please don't ask me how), that you have to be real careful with meditation. Regular meditation has a lot of benefits, but even the good kind can be bad for certain people. Then there is also forms that are designed to open your mind to forces in this world that are as far away from good as yo can get. You are basically invinting these forces to come in and take control of your body, and life. I was told about several that the chanting you do, is actually naming these forces. I did not get this information from church leaders, or goody- two-shoes that put down anything that falls outside their comfort zone. I got this from people that actually took part in those dark forms. Some were tricked by a trainer,  others took part because they wanted that, or thought they wanted that. They soon realized they didn't, they were lucky enough to find someone to help them get control of their life again.

There is probably such a small amount of the dark forms that actually lead to something happening, it's really not worth talking about.  But when you've seen what I've seen, any amount is worth mentioning. By all means try meditation, just don't go in blind, Keep your eyes open.

For me, meditation doesn't include closing my eyes or sitting a certain way or anything like that.  Basically, meditation for me goes back to the original meaning of the word, to mull something over, to chew on it like a dog would.  I like to meditate on the scripture reading I read that morning or on things happening in my life.  I like to try and find the path that I'm being led along and see all the times I've been blessed.
