My brother got an up grade but his pics didn't get transfered to the new phone.
They are all the pics he has of his late wife.
Can anyone tell me how to do that?

Yes, I can. 1.Take the phone, and plug a USB cable into it, 2.plug the other end into your computer. 3.Now unlock the phone, and the computer will be able to search it just like it was a regular hard drive, and you can 4.just move the pics to the computer. If you have any trouble let me know. The key is to unlock the phone after hooking it to the computer. Once the computer gets permission to access it, it's ok if it locks back (or should be), you shouldn't have to unlock it again, but if it says you don't have permission, just unlock the phone again.

Denny, can you tell us if it's an android or an iPhone. There are some differences between how to recover pics for each.

OK, I get 40 lashes with a wet noodle, I don't know anyone with an iphone, so I just didn't think about it.

I would highly recommend using a computer as it makes the process so much smoother. However, there are options that don't use it... slower and more trouble prone from real life experience...

Here's a link I found that I wish I'd written. It's my procedure pretty much word for word so, here you go...

If it's Android, he should automatically (I said SHOULD), have Google Photo's preinstalled. You might have to look in folders marked Google for it, if so, it should be backing up any photo's that are on the phone to the cloud. If this is the case then all he will need to do, is just open the Photo's app on the new phone, and download whatever he wants on the phone, then everything will still be available in the cloud.

Luckily Photo's is one of those apps that works off of wifi, and cell service is not needed on the phone itself. As long as internet is available it can sync both directions even if the cellphone mobile data is off. If it's not preinstalled on one phone, or both phone's, you can install it from the PlayStore, sign in with a Gmail address and there you go. I believe Photo's will even work on iPhone, but don't quote me on that. If nothing else iTunes or some other photo sync software will be available.

But, as fox said, if you can work through the computer you will be better off. But, syncing to the cloud is a close second. I mentioned Google Photo's because it's basically automatic, when you take a new photo, it automatically saves to the phone and to the cloud. But, if you can also use my original insturctions to copy to the computer, then you have those unrepeatable photo's saved in three spaces, not just one or two.
