Tell me what you think about this guy's idea of sleeping all night, not being normal. I bet he sleeps all night with no problem.

Mom and dad use to get up in the middle of the night, bake a pie!,make coffie, have pie and coffie then go back to bed!
They must have been up a couple hours anyway!
Me? I cant help but sleep thru the night.

Being a geek in general, and having all kinds of time on my hands, I read a lot of science and sites lke Scientific American, National Geographic,  other site with anthropological info. My interests really are all over the spectrum . I've seen several articles about this sleep pattern before. Before electricity and the light bulb people would get up in the middle of the night and do activities like in that article. In the winter with longer nights they're more likely to do this.

Just because you're in bed does not mean you have to be asleep. As long as you feel rested when you get up in the morning you're doing fine. The key is to stay relaxed and not stress or get upset. Don't watch the clock, if you have a set time u need to be awake, ignore the clock and let your alarm wake you. The crux of it is, those of us with fibro are rarely going to feel rested when we wake up regardless of how much sleep we get.  :emowall:

I already sleep like this!  :insane: :insane: :insane: I haven't slept a full night in years.

When I used to work in the casino business, I used to have very odd sleep patterns. The old solid eight hours is great when you can get it, but sleeping in two or more segments is not bad.
I thought of a really witty signature, but it got lost in the fog...

I normally do either a 30 or 90 minute afternoon sleep which will be tough with school soon as I will be pulling an 8 am to 9 pm school day on mondays but only 3 hours on tuesdays! May have to find a corner for a nap in the office.

I seem to be reverting to a second sleep type pattern.  Sort of like a hobbits second breakfast.     I really don't mind waking up because there is allot better tv on at this time and I am usually not in as much pain.  I just don't like having to wake up twice.  :emomad2:

My sleep pattern has changed in the last year.  I go to bed around 1:00AM and about 3 I wake up even with my cpap on.  I can't get back to sleep so I get up and go to my recliner and read for about 20 to 30 minutes.  Then I can go back to bed, put the cpap back on and then sleep for about 6 hours.

It doesn't work for me if I turn the TV on.  It has to be quiet.  Many times the wife has come in and found me sleeping in my walker with my glasses on and an open book laying in my lap.  That usually happens about once a week.

I find myself getting very tired after eating anything.  If I don't get up and move around for about 10 to 15 minutes, I will drop off to sleep at the drop of a hat. My wife is constantly waking me after about 45 minutes to an hour. If I do this after
eating dinner then I have a harder time going to sleep at night.

If I do sleep through the entire night it is very rare.  Been in physical therapy for my knee for the last couple of months.  When I get home after those sessions, I usually drop off to sleep as soon as I sit down.  Really takes the little bit of energy that I do have for those sessions.
