Hello!

It's been quite a while since I last posted on this site.  I hope you all are having a Pain Free summer! My question today has to do with OIC (Opiate Induced Constipation) - a rotten side effect of taking pain meds.  I have been battling with this issue for about 3 months and finally had some success!  I have tried multiple OTC meds to no avail.  I tried all of the meds specifically meant for this issue.  Finally my pain doc put me on two  at the same time .  they are amitiza and Reiistor.  Initially I was using the vials of Relistor and was having some success. It felt like if was beginning to  work like normal.  I only had that to use for 12 days. at that point I switched to the Pre-Filled syringes of Relistor. Since making that change I am right back where I was at the beginning - No Joy.

I am just wondering if there is some kind of difference between the vials and the pre-filled version of Relistor that would account for it not working since starting to use the pre-filled version.

As always, I appreciate any help you might be able to give!!!

That is one problem I only slightly have. I do get OIC, but one bowl of Mini-Wheats, or Raisin Bran and my bowels move. There are time I have to eat it two or three days in a row because it (the OIC) won't leave, but it eventually evens back out once I've ate enough.

I know that doesn't help with your problem, but I had to brag about something  :lmao:  :emolaugh:

Welcome home Rob!  :bighug:

Constipated... oh yeah, I can certainly relate.  Opioids are just nasty things when it comes to our large intestine!  Totally warps the peristaltic action and causes traffic jams like nobody's business.  I try to stay on a high fibre diet... daily bowl of bran or oats or wheat... I find the raisin bran seems to repeat on me the least.  It's the lack of gallons of water that's been getting me of late.  Have to keep the system wet to keep the bowels from making high density sausages, so to speak.  With my hemorrhoid of late, it's been a real pain, constipatetion or not... I might have to look into these!

Has the constipation caused you hemorrhoid problems yet?

Lots of water. If I don't drink I am constipated.
I KNEW IT WAS THE ALIENS!
