Boy do those ever bring back vivid memories!  Yup, I remember the 80s well.  Back when music videos were just in their infancy, there was a Canadian channel that started broadcasting them every day.  I have some very distinct memories surrounding each of those songs.

Thanks for the memory journey. :budy:

Times are tough when "Happy Hour" is your nap.
My mind not only wanders, sometimes it leaves completely!

I used to go to the Enlisted Club on my first base out of Boot Camp, it was a training base. After school I'd go drink in a room that had a big screen tv (remember those old big screens that took up the space of a couch?) and a nice sound system up loud and watch MTV back when they played music videos and news based on music only. Mid '86. I remember a few songs, but one I remember very well was Sledgehammer by  Peter Gabriel. I often drank enough that memories were difficult to keep. Oh, another song was :

Take on me by Ah-Ha https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=djV11Xbc914

All of these songs I'm linking from the beginning of this thread probably to the end of it are on one playlist of mine or another. Mellow today.

Amelie Lens - Follow. Dub, meditative: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2GZiaIxJs-c

Radical Face - The Gilded Hand (Live on KEXP) One of my favorites. Indie rock? : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jqMezhyyCdA

Bishop Briggs - River. Indie rock?: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h5jz8xdpR0M

Imagine Dragons - Radioactive. Modern rock? This is the song I mentioned about Patatonix(s?) covering: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ktvTqknDobU

SPM-you know my name. Urban Rock. Music doesn't start until around the 30 second mark: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PHQE1JxZGMk

Cool... got a real kick out of seeing Lou Diamond Philips get ambushed by a bunch of stuffed animals.  Hadn't seen that one before.  Hilarious!

I know that many here are Christians. These songs are for those. My wife posted these songs (minus the Morman Tabernacle song) a couple of days ago on FB after I posted my songs here. I wanted to post them earlier, but I haven't felt well the last few days. I usually don't post more than one song of a particular artist in the same post, but I'm making an exception here. I've been coming back into the fold better than I have in decades. These songs are not yet in any playlist of mine, but maybe a few. This will change shortly.

1990 - Dolly Parton - He's Alive. Country Gospel: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3Ln7Okj4Sro

Zach Williams, Dolly Parton - There Was Jesus. Country Gospel: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=37wV6D49iEY&feature=share&fbclid=IwAR3wuQuBgWGhq7Zxvmh4ZPrgin2DKv8E1YzVJZb1WWv2_OKCC81PGdr4rgE

Amazing Grace - Mormon Tabernacle Choir25. Gospel: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C2arm5ydeJc

for KING & COUNTRY + Dolly Parton - God Only Knows. Gospel Country: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UFiyEFmIXvA&feature=share&fbclid=IwAR32zAFm-Ikdw4AB96ENdZSUZ6YSZQJfxcpXoELLiHqaff_cB-dw3rSQUmw

I Know That My Redeemer Lives - 7-Year-Old Claire Crosby. Gospel kid: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pJeoTfxa-3k0&feature=youtu.be

I went ahead and signed up for Amazon music unlimited.  Several of the songs from my previous post were only accessible with Music Unlimited (Trying to add to my Amazon playlist).  :emowall: I've run across several songs that were only Music Unlimited in the last week or three. It's getting frustrating enough that I'll pay the extra $8 a month for the service. as much as I love my music, I guess it is worth it. [Shrugs shoulders]. If history is a good map, I'll unsubscribe every other month or so then re-sub. I'm cheap.

To be honest, if there is one artist that you can play over and over and never bother me, it's Dolly.  She is just freakin awesome!

I was strongly tempted to add a few more, but I try to limit myself to 5 songs per post, otherwise it just becomes a wall nobody will want to check out. I do love most of Dolly's songs, and she doesn't fit very well into the genres of songs I like. I'm more of a Rock and Roll and mediative dub kinda guy

Robby

I love most of Dolly's song, as long as someone else is singing them. I know I have the unpopular opinion here, but I just don't like her voice, I don't know why  But it's like a cheese grater. I don't take anything away from her when it comes to her acting, or anything else. Not too mention her charitable giving, I mean you can tell the money does not mean anything to her, except where she can give it to someone in need.

That's ok, Robby.  We're not required to like everybody's voice. :budy:

Not really sure which genre to toss these into. It's been decades since I went "clubbing" which was more or less just going to a standard bar with a dancefloor playing rock or country.

Nelly Furtado - Say It Right. Pop/club: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6JnGBs88sL0

Skrillex - Summit (feat. Ellie Goulding). Club: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-e_3Cg9GZFU What she is saying at the beginning of the song is Breathe. It wasn't until tonight researching the song I found out what she was saying. At least that is what the lyrics say she is saying.

Robyn - Dancing On My Own. Club: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CcNo07Xp8aQ

Moby 'Extreme Ways' Club?: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nBB2bPwKWVg

Sorry, a second Moby song.
Moby 'Natural Blues' feat. Christina Ricci Med rock/club: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SC6-TiN19uE

Nobody else wants to contribute their favorite songs? My hope was to share, not just post my own favorite songs. A musical conversation. We may not agree on all the songs, but it's interesting to learn IMHO. You can learn a lot about someone by listening to the music they like.

Once again I want to make a wall of songs... I start to do some research on one song which leads to another, which leads to another... I am really enjoying relistening to my old and new playlists.

Sorry, I really can't participate in this one. I have some kind of ear problem, listening to music for very long at a time, gives me a migraine. So I just don't listen to music. Anytime I do I always find 8 or 9 I would like to put on a playlist, but that doesn't happen often. I wish I could participate. Hopefully someone will decide to join in with you.

No problem, I understand. I have days I don't want to listen to music (for other reasons). I just hope you are able to listen to your own music and enjoy it as best you can.

In a funky mood today. I'll try to keep it a meditative genre, but as I go through my playlist (mostly Spotify playlists which are more varied as they were contributed to for a much longer time than any of my other playlists except Winamp), who knows what I'll end up with. Today I'm inspired by "Eastern" music because of the Beatles, of all bands. I've always liked the Eastern-inspired genre of music, and it wasn't until streaming music became a thing that I could explore my tastes (other than the Beatles and a few others). I understand if it isn't your cup of tea. Sorry if two posts show up this same day for you, my last one was posted late last night (my time), this one in my afternoon.

Bahramji & Mashti - Cameldriver. Eastern meditative dub: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nac1fmDluRk

I don't have a youtube link for this one. Only a Spotify link. You will need a Spotify acct to listen to this one, which is free.
Layla Project - Tapatam. Eastern meditative dub: https://open.spotify.com/track/1uMvHEZOsPpbHCT9dr3MCr?si=hfwGGaPlRFGrHG29w0t7Xg

A Quiet Conversion (feat. Lone Widahl Madsen). Eastern-flavored dub: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rFw_8RfDvec

Dead Can Dance - Song of the Stars Eastern-flavored dub slow intro, sounds much better after intro vocals: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g0L5RFspwyE

Hmmm... Spotify limits your ability to skip around your playlist after a short while. Gonna have to work off my Alexa playlist now.

Woodkid - Run Boy Run. Pop: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lmc21V-zBq0
