The last few trips to the pain clinic I have felt like a fake, because I did not know where to tell her it hurt. That's just one thing that's been recent. That has been an on again off again thing. One time I know, the next time I don't. All the other stuff she said, I have experienced. So I just don't know anymore....

But I will always keep going, I"m too stubborn to quit.

I really got sick of the looks I would get at the pain clinic when I would practically fill in the little body on the paper with red areas. Yes... it freakin hurt and no, they really didn't look like they believed it. The disbelief they displayed was way more painful than the shots or the poking or whatever... just totally demoralizing. You'd leave there wondering if your insurance was going to suddenly call and tell you they were dropping you. Mind you, we still fear that call after all these years. It's been done once before and it was a stressful and painful 9 months of work to get it back with no sorry or whatever at the end.

The struggle is real! Gotta hand it to that lady, that had to be painful to put on all that makeup like that. Every time she poked herself with the brush I would cringe. Ouch!!! She was a real trooper. Paintbrush, maybe... makeup brush, definetly owie!

Very provoking I never could explain where and why I hurt I was lucky enough to get a worksafe pain specialist who believed me right from the first meeting. The only problem was he couldn't be my regular prescription writer as he was the specialist that was always on call for worksafe and the local pain clinic. The one thing that was rough is you had to do a drug test for every meeting even if it was just to fill out paperwork I have an extremely shy bladder so being monitored while I pee was not good lol

I'll have to look for the meme that shows pain all over that is painted on.

It's VERY embarrassing also if they ask for a depiction and it moves from the last time or just before.   Shows how little they really know about it because it can change in way less than an hour.

To withhold a persons pain meds is cruel but far too normal let alone proving that you have them in your system because you NEED them, and don't have any other meds present.

The whole system of control taken away from family docs and giving it to pain clinics sucked from the beginning and only gets worse with time because they lost their war on drugs.

that was well done. 6 years she has had it. I should show a video of 30 years with it but it would be to long.

I want to make a video of me on a breathing machine keeping me alive in a coma, JUST BECAUSE OF THE CRACKDOWN ON MEDICINE. Maybe it would wake someone up to the danger of what they are doing to us.

Also, show people at a funeral because of the suicides due to the lack of belief in this horrible illness.

The clinic I go to now, they all ACT like they believe. When we start discussing a particular pain, they can even say, "I bet it actually starts here", and then touch me in the right spot and I come off the chair in pain. So it seems they know the truth, but after 20 years, I've learned to be extremely skeptical. I have no idea if they  really beleive me or not, the doc that does my injections is a little more black and white which worries me, he'll ask does it hurt here or here, will not accept both, one or the other only. I'm like look I'm sorry but one day it the first spot, the next day or even later in the day it's the second spot, so I have to say both. He gets a little upset at me, but I'm not going to lie to make him happy. That doesn't help me any.

Yup. Totally agree. Tell it like it is. If they can't understand what's going on, maybe they'll start to get the point that they don't understand everything and maybe it's gonna take some effort on their part to get there. It's not our job to tell them why it hurts, it's our job to be honest with them and to be open to taking their advice.

I love the question "what number is your pain today?"

I feel like saying I don't know a number. today it just hurts everywhere like it did the day before and the day before that.

My number is "it freaking hurts everywhere!"
