I took advantage of the no to slight winds/gusts Sunday and went to the local outdoor shooting range.

It is probably less than 5 miles from the house so I can afford to load up just a few rounds as I develop a load for my AR-15. I can drive out to the range, then down to the target and back up behind the benches it makes life easy,

I decided that I need to concentrate on a specific load to see if I can obtain sub Minute Of Angle (MOA) groups. I know my rifle can perform to that standard, I  just need to learn to perform at that level. If I can do that bench resting,  then I can learn shooting off of sticks.

I wish I could get into all that. But, I'll do good just to get a good pistol. I used to be a decent shot, but I'm scared to see what my ability is now.

Sweet! I just had to check...

The range is 3.5 miles one way! If it wasn't for the dang hill, I'd just bike out to it!

How would you go about getting rid of some rifles ?  When my son died 30 years ago I cleaned all of his rifles and oiled them, then put them in my large gun safe with mine and haven't opened it since.  My grandson and neither of my son-I-laws want them and I can't hunt any more so here I sit with 8 hunting rifles and a shot gun.

Afraid to use Craig's list as I don't want people to know that I have so many guns.  I had over 300 rounds of ammo and 3 good scopes stolen from my shop 2 years ago so I can't even test some of them out.  The gun case weighs over 700 pounds so they couldn't take that.  Ammo costs so damned much now I can't believe it.  I was a rifle specialist in the Army and always scored at the top of my class, but when they started talking about sniper training I said 'Not No, But Hell No'.  Of course that was back in the very early 60s.

Don't know if I could take all of them into a gun store to see what they are worth.  The feds might come after my poor old broken down butt.   buttkick   Would have to have someone to carry them there for me as I couldn't even carry one if it didn't have a strap and still use my walker.   :emowall:

I can just see the police response now. 5 cops throwing you to the ground, walker flying through the air and beating the hell out of you as they cuff you. Then as you scream about the pain being amplified frpm fibro they put you in the most uncomfortable place and position.

Sorry I love cops, but have worked with them before. Most are good, but it is a profession that draws many who love violence and power tripping .

I think it would be a good idea to take pictures of them and have them just generally appraised by a reputable gun shop.  Get several bids from different gun shops in your area and let the other ones know they've been outbid to see if they'll match or beat.

When the time came to sell them, I'm quite sure you could get the someone buying them to help transport them, considering the size of the gun case, and they'd be the ones carrying them into their store!  Can't think of too many gun stores that wouldn't at least help you in to the store with them, even if they couldn't manage the gun safe.

We can design a holder for use with your walker but it sure wouldn't take long for the cops to beat the hell out of an old FM dude.

Seriously though, they will want to see the guns and would have a tough time estimating value from a picture.  Contact any local gun shops you feel comfortable with first off.  Tell them the situation and they will usually take the guns on consignment.  You don't get as much as an outright sale but an outright sale is dangerous in today's environment.' With that many you may want to split them up between a few shops and I would let them move the safe to their store after you have your stock of guns down.

Trying to remember which buck I got with which gun.  My first deer rifle was a well used 270 pump that the guy said was only 8 years old and that was in 1957.  I am right handed but shoot left handed for some dumb reason.  Had to be careful when the casings were ejected.  They could put an eye out or cause a serious scar if you weren't careful.

I remember driving a 1929 Ford Model A flat bed truck that my friend and I rebuilt with his father's help.  What a trip.    Lots of snow but with chains and that old over and under tranny, we could go most anywhere.  Like most young and dumb kids, we forgot our tent and had to sleep in the cab.  Our supply box that we built on the bed just behind the cab sure looked empty when we started to set up camp the night.   Not much room and no heater made a very cold long night.  Oh well, live and learn.   :emowall:

Check www.gunbroker.com or www.gunsamerica.com and check to see what they are going for on those two websites. You can sell them and they give guidance on how to ship them.

My wife is lucky I don't have a lot of spare monthly cash... I'd be dragging home all sorts of firearms!

I bought my collection years ago for less then 10% of today's cost as a investment.

I have a very fine WW2 M1  Garand that was never issued to troops and that i converted to a  M1 scout rifle and have all the parts from the conversion so that it can be put back to basic M1.
I also have a very rare late Spreewerk Walther P38 with a  Fabrique Nationale (FN) frame.
It has both the spreewerk E/88 and the FN E/140 on the frame and the M on the trigger guard.
only about 1500 were made and many were captured by the Russians.
